My philosophy on deep tissue massage is that "deep" is a relative term.  Pressure should be applied gradually, working within the comfort range of the individual, to achieve a therapeutic response from the muscle.  As the client relaxes, pressure can be increased.

My goal as a massage therapist has always been to help people get relief from their stress and pain, and help them become more aware of how to take care of their body.  

If people are interested, I like to recommend stretching, exercises, and nutritional changes to their lifestyle.
